Title: Postdoctoral Scholar – Auditory brain and behavioral predictors of late language emergence

Position Details

Position Description

The University of Washington’s Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery and the Virginia Merrill Bloedel Hearing Research Center has an opening for a motivated postdoctoral researcher to join an NIH-funded project investigating brain and behavioral development in early childhood. This longitudinal study focuses on auditory processing and aims to identify neural and behavioral predictors of late language emergence in both typically developing infants and those at risk for language delays. Leveraging longitudinal EEG and behavioral assessments, the research seeks to discover early markers that can facilitate timely diagnosis and inform targeted interventions for infants vulnerable to delayed language development.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative, multidisciplinary team dedicated to advancing our understanding of early auditory and language development and informing clinical assessments and interventions that support infant development.

We seek a motivated researcher with expertise in EEG data acquisition and analysis, strong programming skills, and a passion for developmental neuroscience. Experience working with infants or young children is highly desirable.

This will be a full-time position on an annual service period of 12 months (July 1–June 30). The anticipated start date is October 1, 2025 or later.

The base salary for this position will be $5,705 per month ($68,460 per year), or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Postdoctoral scholars at the University of Washington are represented by UAW 4121 and subject to the collective bargaining agreement, except where exclusions apply. For details, please visit the University of Washington Labor Relations website.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who bring:

Expertise in EEG acquisition, signal processing, and data analysis

Proficiency in programming

Experience in child development research, especially related to auditory processing, language acquisition, or related domains

Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team

Enthusiasm for longitudinal research and working with infant or early childhood populations

Applicants should hold a PhD or foreign equivalent in developmental psychology, neuroscience, speech and hearing sciences, engineering, or a related field.

Instructions

Applicants should submit via Interfolio:

A cover letter describing your interest and relevant experience

Curriculum vitae

Two representative publications

Contact information for three references

Organization: Medicine, General Internal Medicine

Title: Research Associate Professor/Research Professor, General Internal Medicine (Senior Epidemiologist)

Position Details

Position Description

The University of Washington’s Department of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine, is seeking applicants for a full-time (1.0 FTE) faculty position to be based at Harborview Medical Center (HMC). This position would have research responsibilities at Harborview Medical Center. This position would work closely with Dr. Paul Crane, MD MPH and investigators from the Adult Changes in Thought (ACT) study and its network of ancillary studies focused on epidemiological investigations impacting older adults in general and neurodegenerative conditions in particular. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

This position will be at the Research Associate Professor or Research Professor level (non-tenure eligible). Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW’s Faculty Code Section 24-34. Research associate professors and research professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The anticipated start date would be February 2026.

The person in this position will interact extensively with ACT study data. The data available for analyses arise from a broad range of disciplines. Recent examples include air pollution, ophthalmology, central auditory processing, traumatic head injury, neuroimaging, whole genome sequence data, and cell-type specific omics data from a linked project with the Allen Brain Institute. The person in this position will be expected to learn quickly, ask good questions, and provide high quality epidemiological analysis. The person in this position would join existing groups focused on analyses for manuscripts as well as groups developing proposals for new funding initiatives, and would be expected to supervise several research scientists pursuing analyses and write-ups of a variety of projects.

ACT is one of several landmark studies of older adults, and many initiatives seek to leverage combined resources to address important scientific questions. The person in this position would help represent ACT in these groups, advising harmonization efforts with specific attention to ACT’s particular data resources.

Salary

The base salary range for this position will be: $12,500 – $16,667 per month ($150,000 – $200,008 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Title: Clinical Instructor – Family Physician in Seattle

Position Details

Position Description

UW Medicine Primary Care is seeking a Primary Care Physician, in conjunction with the Department of Family Medicine.

This opening is for a full-time Primary Care practice at our South Lake Union Clinic in the heart of downtown Seattle.

UW Medicine has a single mission: To improve the health of the public. The 30,000 members of our community advance this mission through the excellence of their work in patient care, medical education and research.

UW Medicine Primary Care offers a complete spectrum of primary and urgent care services, strong connections to specialists throughout the Seattle area, and are committed to improving the health of the public. The providers are actively engaged in teaching and providing outstanding care.

We prioritize unique and comprehensive care delivery to serve the needs of our patients, including behavioral health, care management, lab and radiology, and a fully integrated electronic medical record. Through our affiliation with the world-class University of Washington School of Medicine and the top ranked primary care training program in the United States, our employees have the distinct advantage to provide our patients with an exceptionally high level of innovative care.

Candidates must be Board Certified or Board Eligible. Successful candidate will be appointed as a Clinical Instructor through the UW School of Medicine.

We provide competitive compensation, outstanding benefits, and a commitment to work-life balance.

Clinical Instructors hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. In addition to providing primary care, this role will include some clinical teaching responsibilities.

Base salary for this position will be $18,423 per month ($221,079 per annum) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determination and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) provides eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Other compensation associated with this position includes a minimum guaranteed incentive for the first two years of $13,000 per quarter ($52,000 per annum) through UW Physicians. The incentive is based on both production and quality metrics, with guaranteed incentive pay being based on achieving up to the 45th percentile of production during the period of record; should the provider exceed this level of production, they will receive the higher productivity earned incentive instead.

For practitioners holding an appointment in one of the physicians practice plans, see the link for additional benefits that may be available at https://faculty.uwmedicine.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/UWP-Benefits-Summary-for-recruitingef-edits-v3.pdf

Qualifications
