Roles & Responsibilities: 

The Windreich Department of Artificial Intelligence and Human Health at Mount Sinai is inviting applications for a Computational Scientist. This role will be instrumental in fostering collaboration and spearheading projects that leverage high-performance computing (HPC) and data science methodologies to advance the field of Computational Pathology and other AI-driven health initiatives. This position calls for a proactive leader who is adept at navigating scientific research and capable of contributing to the development of cutting-edge applications and technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Works directly with scientists and research staff to efficiently and effectively use MSSM HPC clusters.
  • Works with research groups to help identify, implement and improve their computational and data workflow; assists in facilitating computing and data infrastructure solutions specific to Fuchs lab researchers.
  • Participates in the development and deployment of large-scale AI training including multi-node multi-GPU workflows.
  • Helps optimize researchers’ code for improved performance.
  • Troubleshoots and debugs applications and helps solve other technical issues.
  • Installs and manages necessary libraries and application performance tools.
  • Develops and implements backup policies.
  • Participates in the development and maintenance of the lab’s research viewer and its integration with HPC.
  •  Helps define and deploy a comprehensive computational and data vision for Fuchs lab researchers.
  • Writes, publishes and presents papers at national and international conferences.
  • Assists in developing and writing proposals. Creates and provides clear documentation on all items.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Masters degree or equivalent in a domain science; Ph.D in a scientific domain preferred.
  • 3 years, preferably in a scientific/academic computing environment or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in batch HPC cluster environment with a parallel file system
  • Experience with MPI, Open MP and numerical libraries
  • Experience with scientific workflows
  • Experience with instrumenting and optimizing application codes
  • Experience in an academic or research community environment
  • Programming experience in any applicable language

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $96461 – $144692 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
