This position will assist staff and Principal Investigator neuroimaging research projects; contributes to meeting regulatory compliance (IRB and possible IACUC) and to the compilation of regulatory protocols; designs, tests and evaluates methods and protocols for processing and analyzing neuroimage data including structural CT/MRI, resting state fMRI, DTI and task-based fMRI. Summarizes and organizes collected data, and publishes results of investigations in professional journals; is capable of working with a high level of independence. The Postdoctoral Associate offers advice and brings expertise to the research team; is responsible for the scientific operations of the laboratory; and submits grant applications to obtain independent research.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Performs various research, statistical analyses, and related operations relative to ongoing investigatory activities of a laboratory.
- Analyzes and interprets experimental data and publishes results.
- Contributes work for independent peer-reviewed external funding; and contributes to grant applications for the Assistant Director of Research.
- Trains and mentors residents, junior research assistants, graduate students, and student workers in the laboratory.
- Actively collaborates with colleagues to develop research ideas; shares theoretical and technical expertise with colleagues; collaborates with colleagues to strategize and assess effectiveness of studies; collates and analyzes complex data.
Minimum Education and Experience
PhD in Neuroscience, Electrophysiology, Biomedical Engineering, or Computer Science, or a related discipline required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated competence in investigation, research and project management.
- Capable of designing and implementing neuroimaging protocols such as DTI, task-based fMRI or resting state fMRI in either human or animal subjects.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement computational techniques in processing neuroimaging including CT and MRI modalities.
- Demonstrated ability in big data analytics and machine learning techniques.
- Expert ability in programming languages is highly desirable.
- Theoretical and technical knowledge of the research subject matter; demonstrate the ability to independently form hypotheses; design and perform experiments; develop new techniques and ability to conduct bench research with a low level of supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
Three (3) years of postdoctoral research experience in neuroimaging techniques and/or application.
