Presentation

The Group of Prof. Michel Chapuisat is proposing a Postdoctoral (Premier Assistant/Première Assistante) position on ant social evolution, behavior and genomic conflict at the Department of Ecology and Evolution, University of Lausanne, Switzerland. The postdoc will join a dynamic team working on social evolution, cooperation and conflicts, supergene evolution, and evolutionary genomics. Expected start date in position : 01.05.2025

Contract length : 1 year, renewable 2 x 2 years, maximum 5 years

Activity rate : 100%

Workplace : Lausanne-Dorigny

Annual gross salary : CHF 83’160

Your responsibilities

The research project will be defined together with the group leader based on the Postdoc interests and competences in the field of social evolution, animal behavior, evolutionary genomics and intragenomic conflict. Most of his/her time will be dedicated to research, but a contribution to teaching is expected, including the possibility of supervising master students. The job description stipulates:
70% Personal research
25% Participation to teaching activities and master student supervision
5% Maintenance of lab equipment or other institutional tasks.

Your qualifications

We are seeking to recruit someone with a strong interest and a PhD degree in evolution, behavior or genetics, with skills in experimental biology, animal behavior, genomics, and/or population genetics. Experience with ant breeding, gene-expression analysis, and social evolution theory would be an advantage. The applicants should have a strong ability to work in a team, as PhD students are also involved in this project.
