Develop concepts, identify mechanisms, and perform biomedical informatics and computational biology as it relates to the pathogenesis of lung cancer or develop concepts and lead development of analysis that evaluates the potential pre-clinical efficacy of a novel immunotherapeutic approach, prepare high-impact publications, and assist with grant preparation.
Required skills:
• A Ph.D. in biomedical informatics, computational biology and/or systems biology or immunology or related fields
• Documented experience in working with large data sets such as DNA and RNA sequencing
• Documented ability to work in a collaborative environment
• Documented ability to train, advise and lead research personnel
Specific responsibilities:
• Report directly to the Principal Investigator
• Carry out analysis related to large data sets
• Train undergraduates, graduate students, and new postdoctoral trainees in the laboratory
• Work on multiple projects efficiently and effectively
• Assist with preparation of grant proposals
• Deliver effective presentations and participate actively in weekly team meetings
• Prepare manuscripts for publication in scientific journals
• Communicate effectively with other scientists both at UCLA and other institutions
• Maintain or organize critical databases
