The Department of Biomedical Engineering is seeking a Research Technician II. This position will involve making sure our research laboratory is compliant with animal protocols. This will include writing and amending the protocols, maintaining a mouse colony and carrying out small animal technical work. Another responsibility will be assisting with tumor models and ensuring daily monitoring is completed by students. He/she may treat mice and rats with therapeutic agents via tail-vein administration. Rat and mouse blood collection will be carried out. The candidate should also maintain cells in tissue culture. Additional responsibilities include engaging with graduate students on a variety of research projects.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or two years formal training in related fields (biotechnology, toxicology, medicine, biology, etc).
- At least 3 years of experience directly related to the project or program.
Preferred Qualifications
- BS or MS Degree in related fields (biotechnology, toxicology, medicine, biology, etc) is preferred.
- Experience with tail vein injections of mice.
- Experience handling rats. Blood collection from mice and rats.
- Experience handling mice. Experience with tissue culture.
- Experience with rodent tumor studies.
- Experience with small animal surgery.
Salary Range
$42,000 – $48,000
