Seeking a candidate to serve as a Research Technician II in the Department of Oral Biology. Projects in Dr. Visser’s research group focus on microbial pathogenesis and interactions of oral bacteria with host cells. The selected candidate will carry out experiments as required.
Duties will also include being responsible for day-to-day operations of the laboratory; such as routine maintenance, organizing and ordering supplies and record keeping. Excellent organizational skills, ability to work well with others, and willingness to learn new lab techniques are key. Simultaneous performance of more than one procedure may be required.
Methods used may include:
- bacterial culture
- molecular biology techniques (such as PCR, cloning, RNA and DNA extraction)
- microscopy imaging
- mammalian tissue culture
- immunological techniques (such as western blot, ELISA, protein expression)
- animal handling and cell isolation
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in life science
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment, with strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in microbiology, immunological or molecular biology techniques
- Experience with animal handling
Salary Range
$34,000 – $38,000
