The Department of Physics and Astronomy is one of Uppsala University’s largest with nearly 400 employees, of which approx. 100 are PhD students. The department conducts world-class research and education in both theoretical and experimental physics and has extensive collaboration with the outside world. The research is carried out at nine research departments and touches everything from the unimaginably small to the large within, for example, energy supply, climate development, new materials and the universe. This entire spectrum is also reflected in the department’s courses and educational programs. Around 2,500 students study courses at basic and advanced level at the department every year. • Implement and test new features tailored for two specific use cases.
  • Work closely with the team to integrate first-principles calculations and spin dynamics methods.
  • Create a comprehensive tutorial to facilitate the adoption and use of the developed workflow.

Qualification requirements

  • PhD in physics (condensed matter physics) or equivalent
  • Strong background in theoretical magnetism
  • Experienced in handling ab initio methods preferably LMTO and spin dynamics codes
  • Good programming skills in Python
  • Can independently organize work in the project

Desirable/deserving otherwise

  • Experience with high performance computing

Necessary documents
