Job Description

The University of Zurich (UZH) plays a prominent role in Open and Reproducible Science, both nationally and internationally. With the Center of Reproducible Science and Research Synthesis (CRS), UZH pursues the goal to improve the overall reproducibility of empirical research and to promote original research in meta-science. This position is partly funded via a collaborative project with the Swiss Statistical Society (SSS) which is commit-ted to improve the statistical standards in the empirical literature.

Your responsibilities

The successful candidate will participate in research projects related to statistical literacy, reproducibility and research evaluation. In particular, the candidate will work on

  • The Early Career Reviewer project to train the next generation of statistical reviewers. Find more infor-mation on the current state of the project on stat.ch/en/activities/early_career_reviewers. Specific tasks entails,
  • Building a customisable peer review template,
  • Integrating current research assessment reforms into the platform,
  • Supporting stakeholder engagement (e.g., survey to investigate stakeholder needs),
  • Supporting the organisation of upcoming workshops.
  • A meta-research project focused on decision-making in academia, specifically decisions for funding and hiring. Specific tasks include screening and data extraction for a scoping review, and supporting the development of an online data warehouse and platform.

Your profile

The candidate should have a strong interest in improving the quality of research through the review process, and changing the incentive system in academia. Specifically, the candidate should have

  • A bachelor or equivalent in a quantitative or empirical field.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team.
  • Excellent knowledge of English and communication skills.
  • Computational skills, including R and Git, are a plus.
  • Experience engaging with the scientific literature in peer-review journals is a plus.
