At the Chair of Educational Technology (Institute of Education at the University of Zurich), the position of a research assistant is to be filled by 01.07.2025 at the earliest or by arrangement.
The Chair of Educational Technology researches issues relating to the development of teaching and learning scenarios with digital media or in digital environments. Quantitative experiments are used to analyze the design possibilities of digital learning media – in relation to the promotion of cognitive, emotional, motivational and social processes – in the learning process. The aim of the PostDoc position is the development, implementation, evaluation and publication of studies, as well as the development-oriented supervision of students (PhD, Master, Bachelor) at the professorship and in third-party funded projects.
Your responsibilities
What you can expect from us:
- Research with impact: You will develop your priorities in the field of digital education, embedded in ongoing projects or with a view to new funding lines (e.g. SNSF, DIZH, Horizon Europe, foundations, etc.).
- Co-construction instead of convention: You actively shape your academic profile – with your own ideas, re-search-based design and a love of experimentation.
- Teaching with depth: You contribute your expertise in teaching, e.g. through research-based seminars or the supervision of dissertations and other theses.
- Leadership on a small scale: You provide specialist advice and support doctoral candidates and students in a goal-oriented manner, depending on project responsibility.
- Transfer with substance: You bring your ideas to the public, in dialog with schools, universities or EdTech start-ups.
Your profile
- A doctorate in the field of educational science, psychology, computer science, instructional design, etc.
- Independent scientific work with a desire for interdisciplinary collaboration
- Sound expertise in quantitative methods – ideally with a focus on experimental research
- Enjoy implementing research-based teaching concepts
- High interest in using your postdoc phase to position yourself as a researcher
- Courage to innovate, paired with a healthy dose of pragmatism
- Ideally initial experience in acquiring third-party funding and/or implementing larger projects
- Confident communication in English – our common working and publication language Knowledge of Ger-man is a plus, but not a must!
