The Associate Director, Admissions Events & Campus Visits plays an active role in the development of the coming year’s class of students. They build on their years of experience in the field to take the lead in designing experiences in which applicants and their families engage with GW. GW welcomes over 50,000 visitors to campus each year through our campus tours and recruitment events, and yield events. The candidate should demonstrate a commitment to diversity and providing access to higher education.

This position will report to the Dean of Undergraduate Admissions and will Oversee a team of five plus our student ambassador cohort.

Key roles of this position include the following:

  • Supervises, mentors, and coaches professional and student staff Members
  • Oversees project management of admissions events, including project plans and timelines, CRM configuration, data collection and reporting, budget management, room reservations, catering, and all event-related communication
  • Collaborates with campus partners on recruitment and yields joint initiatives
  • Works collaboratively with sub-teams in the admissions office to support events and initiatives in alignment with enrollment goals
  • Regularly monitors survey results, and conducts quality assurance audits for campus tours and events
  • Creates call center training, workflows, and escalation protocols
  • Maintains relationships with vendors and partners with procurement on vendor selection in support of visit events
  • Represents the University both on campus and off campus via information sessions, high school visits, college fairs, etc
  • Serves as the front facing representative of the university, advising prospective students, parents, and school counselors regarding academic programming as well as the process of admission for freshman and transfer students
  • Holistically evaluates first-year and transfer applications; makes recommendations for admissions decisions and determines eligibility for special admissions programs; presents cases in committee

The position is based at GW’s Foggy Bottom Campus in Washington, DC but requires significant domestic and international travel during the recruitment season. The incumbent may perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:                      Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 6 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 4 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:            

  • Preferred Qualifications:    Ability to travel occasionally and work on evenings and weekends (up to 6 weeks per year) is desired.
  • Knowledge of trends and issues in higher education and experience working in an enrollment office is preferred
  • Individual must also demonstrate excellent project management skills, the ability to transform ideas into solutions, and excellent attention to detail is desired
  • Experience working in the admissions office, including evaluating admissions applications for admission in a selective university environment preferred
  • Outstanding interpersonal, public speaking, and customer service skills
  • Excellent writing ability is desired
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Demonstrated ability to perform in a fast-paced, high-volume environment that emphasizes collaboration and measurable outcomes

Hiring Range                                                   $63,661.38 – $110,643.96
