Welcome to an ambitious research environment in bioelectronic medicine and inflammation neuroscience at the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at the Department of Medicine, Solna, Karolinska Institutet.

Your role

You are expected to contribute to and drive internationally competitive research in experimental inflammation neuroscience and bioelectronic medicine.

The tasks include planning, financing, implementation, documentation and reporting of research projects where you, as a research specialist in bioelectronic medicine, are expected to:

  • Project lead research within the group and in collaborative consortia.
  • Conduct experimental research and publish advances in inflammation neuroscience/bioelectronic medicine.
  • Organize and carry out practical laboratory operations.
  • Supervise and teach students from undergraduate to postdoctoral level.
  • Seek and secure relevant financing.
  • Unhinderedly document work and interact with colleagues and employees in Swedish and English.
  • Always work with high scientific integrity.
  • Apply relevant regulations and perform the necessary administration related to the work tasks.

Eligibility requirements

  • Doctorate in laboratory medicine.
  • International postdoctoral stay.
  • Documented expertise in experimental inflammation neuroscience/bioelectronic medicine.
  • Speaks and writes Swedish and English fluently.

Eligible to be employed as a research specialist are those who have demonstrated scientific proficiency and have completed a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree that is deemed equivalent to a Swedish doctoral degree and have documented research work after a public defense.

Assessment criteria

It is particularly meritorious that the applicant has demonstrated

  • Doctoral degree with a cardiovascular focus.
  • Experience in experimental work in human immunology and mouse physiology.
  • Good ability for productive collaboration in an international research environment with high ambitions.
  • Documented scientific proficiency after postdoctoral studies
  • Documented knowledge in higher education pedagogy.

It is an advantage that the applicant has demonstrated

  • Solid knowledge and experience in modern cell and molecular biology methodology including single cell sorting and analysis.
  • Ability to obtain own research funding.
  • Documented good knowledge of scientific and popular science presentation and scientific graphic design.
  • Good teamwork skills, independence and productivity

Investment

The position is located within the Department of Medicine, Solna . The department consists of ten departments and each department consists of several research groups. The current position is located within the Olofsson research group , within the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine.
