As part of the strategic direction of research at the University of Zurich, the University Research Priority Program (URPP) “Human Reproduction Reloaded” | H2R will spend eight years (2021 – 2028) researching the rapidly changing medical technology for human reproduction and its sociological, societal, ethical and legal implications. In particular, this interdisciplinary URPP seeks to analyze the social impacts and legal challenges of this technology in Switzerland and globally. Your position would be located at the Empirical and Normative Knowledge and Data Centre of the URPP.

Tasks
As a postdoctoral researcher at the Data Centre of the URPP H2R, you will be jointly responsible for planning and conducting a (panel) longitudinal study on the topic of the research focus. Your core tasks also include quantitative-empirical research in the sociological subproject and the publication of the results. The main focus of this post-doc position is on taking into account a religious studies/religious sociology dimension in the evaluation of the available data on the use of reproductive technologies. In addition, you will be involved in organizing workshops on interdisciplinary research in the URPP or on citizen science and at international conferences.

You have a doctorate/PhD in social sciences or a related discipline and have expertise in the field of religious studies and/or sociology of religion. You have very good knowledge of planning, collecting and evaluating longitudinal surveys. Additional knowledge of empirical methods is welcome. You also have very good knowledge of how to use Stata, SPSS, R or other analysis programs. Ideally, you have already dealt in detail with fertility, parenthood, family forms or assisted reproductive technologies. Fluent English skills are required, other national languages are an advantage. You are willing to work on the project in Zurich on a long-term basis. The position is initially limited to three years and will be extended for a further year after a positive evaluation. A percentage increase is possible provided you are involved in the acquisition of third-party funding.
