What you will do:

  • Specific duties and job responsibilities will depend on the area of service you join.
  • Providing care to patients according to hospital protocols and clinician orders.
  • Phlebotomy and intravenous and urinary catheter placement.
  • Administer medication accurately at the correct dilution and rate and via the correct route.
  • Monitoring patients recovering from anesthesia and following surgical or diagnostic procedures.
  • Proper use of various monitoring equipment such as pulse oximetry, ECG, and non-invasive blood pressure monitors.
  • Advising, guiding and supporting DVM students throughout your shift.
  • Continue to develop basic and advanced clinical skills.

The Cornell University Companion Animal Hospital provides round- the-clock care for small animals 365 days of the year. Our LVTs provide exceptional patient experiences during:

  • Daytime
  • Evenings (includes shift differential pay)
  • Nights (includes shift differential pay)
  • Weekends
  • Holidays (includes generous holiday pay)

Current open technician schedules will include evening, overnight, weekend and holiday shifts.

What are the qualifications?

  • Associate degrees from an AVMA accredited institution, expected to obtain NYS licensure within 3 months; up to 1 year relevant experience or equivalent combination.
  • New graduates are encouraged to apply.
