What we want
The Postdoctoral Research Associate, under general supervision, conducts lab experiments, analyzes and communicates data in the form of primary research articles, aides in grant writing, supervises undergraduate students and performs routine lab duties as required.
Required Education and Experience:
- Appropriate doctoral degree
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in Neuroscience or related discipline
- Experience with rat models looking at depression, cognitive impairment, gut function, spinal cord injury, or bone/muscle loss
Responsibilities:
Experimental Research
- Performs spinal contusion injuries and tissue collection.
- Conducts behavioral assessment of rodents.
- Conducts unbiased stereology, quantification of cell populations and receptors in injured spinal tissue.
- Performs molecular assays including flow cytometry, scRNA seq, western blotting, ELISAs, etc.
Data recording and analysis
- Prepares manuscripts for publication of research results.
- Uses computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of research experiments and results.
- Assists with grant preparation and submission.
Animal care
- Performs general husbandry with spinally injured rodent subjects.
General lab
- Supervises undergraduate research assistants.
- Mentors graduate students.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
