The Egyptian Museum houses the largest and most important university collection of its kind in Germany and contains unique archaeological finds. Around 7,000 objects on display provide a complete overview of 4,000 years of ancient Egyptian culture. Originally founded as a teaching collection, the museum is now open not only to university students but also to the public. In addition to collecting, preserving and researching, the tasks of exhibiting and communicating have also become the focus of the museum’s work.

TASKS

  • Recording and documentation of artifacts (manually and in a database)
  • Recording and indexing of the archive holdings (documents, photos)
  • data editorial support of the database (MuseumPlus)
  • organizational and restoration tasks (protocols, artful packing) in the context of the preparation of special exhibitions (loan service)
  • care of guests and interns
  • Participation in events (also in the evenings and on weekends)
  • maintain and expand internal and external university cooperation

WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Completed studies in museology or conservation and restoration at a university of applied sciences (at least BA, very good degree)
  • Experience in dealing with artifacts (inventorying, handling, recording, documentation, conservation, restoration)
  • Experience in using imaging techniques for documentation purposes (photography, scanning/3D models)
  • Experience in museum administration and planning (cost planning, duty rosters/procedures, data storage)
  • museum-specific practical experience
  • skilled craftsmanship
  • confident use of the German and English languages ​​(oral and written)
  • strong teamwork and communication skills
