Do you want to contribute to improving people’s health?

In Andrea Varrone’s research group,  you will find a unique opportunity to research how the brain is affected by Parkinson’s disease using the imaging technique positron emission tomography (PET). With this technology, new biomarkers for Parkinson’s disease have been developed for diagnosis and follow-up as well as the measurement of treatment effects. A new biomarker for imaging alpha-synuclein has been developed and our research group, in collaboration with AC-Immune, will perform a clinical trial to evaluate this biomarker in patients with Parkinson’s disease and other synucleinopathies. We offer an engaging and international research environment where you get an opportunity to contribute to high-quality research at an international top level.

Your role

In the clinical trial, the Academic Specialist Center at Torsplan is responsible for recruiting patients and PET examinations are performed at the Brain Molecular Imaging Center in BioClinicum. As a research assistant, you will be involved in the clinical trial and work together with the research staff, i.e. research nurses and doctors, in performing PET examinations. You will be part of the study team and also work directly with the clinic at the Academic Specialist Centre. Your duties include screening and health examination of healthy volunteer research subjects, data analysis and participation as responsible physician in PET examinations.

Who are you?

We are primarily looking for you who are a registered doctor in Sweden, but also qualified doctors are welcome to apply. You must have a great interest in research and diseases within clinical neuroscience. You are curious and want to contribute to improving the diagnosis and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. We would like to see that you are interested in possibly continuing your research training as a PhD student and in conducting clinical research. Requirements for the position are good spoken and written Swedish.

What do we offer?
