Postdoctoral Fellow in fundamental physics with ultracold neutrons
Your tasks
You will work on the n2EDM experiment to search for a neutron electric dipole moment, a possible signal of beyond-Standard-Model physics. The apparatus is under commissioning at the ultracold neutron (UCN) source. You will have the possibility to work on all aspects of the experiment. You will take over responsibility in the magnetic field measurements and further develop our magnetometers. You will work and design hard- and software for a new magnetic field scanning device. You will take part in the first data taking of the n2EDM experiment and the first n2EDM analysis. You will supervise students on all levels.
Your profile
We seek a talented and ambitious person who is highly motivated to work on this competitive project in fundamental physics in a well-established research team within a large international collaboration.
- You have a PhD degree in physics
- Experience in experimental fundamental physics and/or neutron physics and/or experimental nuclear and particle physics are considered as an asset
- Ability to work independently is essential
- You are a good teamplayer
- Flexible and multitasking work attitude
- Demonstrated practical experience in experimental work, hardware setup and data analysis; experience in magnetic field measurement is a plus
- Programming skills are required, and experience in control software are considered as plus
- Excellent level of English as working language in spoken and written is mandatory
