Food, Meals, and Nutritional Status in Nursing Homes: An International Collaborative Project
We offer an opportunity for a postdoctoral researcher to participate in an international collaborative project for three years to improve food, meals, and nutritional care in nursing homes in Sweden. The project is led by Associate Professor Dr. Afsaneh Koochek at Uppsala University in collaboration with Professor Jane Murphy from Bournemouth University, UK, and is funded by The Crown Princess Margaret’s Foundation. Main tasks include planning and conducting a study on malnutrition in nursing homes in various regions of Sweden, as well as investigating barriers and opportunities for good nutritional care. The employee will recruit and collaborate with nursing homes, maintain working relationships, and manage the daily operations of the project. They will also participate in the planning of two clinical intervention studies in collaboration with the medical and science and technology faculties, Uppsala university and develop an international master’s program in healthy aging in collaboration with Bournemouth University. We are looking for highly motivated individuals with a PhD in nutrition, dietetics, and/or nursing, with experience in research with older adults and preferably with nursing homes or other community organizations.
Requirements
Doctoral degree in nutrition science or related fields, Foreign degrees must be assessed as equivalent to a doctoral degree. The degree must be completed no later than the time the employment decision is made. Preference will be given to those who have completed their degree no more than three years ago. The three-year time frame is calculated based on the application deadline. If there are special reasons, such a degree may have been completed earlier. Special reasons include leave due to illness, parental leave, assignments within trade union organizations, etc.
Additional qualifications
For this project, it is desirable that the applicant has experience in subjects and methods relevant to the project, such as qualitative and quantitative methods, as well as experience in writing scientific articles, applications, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and effectively communicating research results through oral presentations and scientific publications. Furthermore, the applicant should have a very good ability to express themselves in both Swedish and English, in both speech and writing. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability, such as flexibility and problem-solving ability, good ability to independently lead projects, and strong ability to work in a team and contribute to interdisciplinary research environments. Additionally, initiative and a structured way of working are important qualities for the position.
