Department of Chemistry – BMC conducts research and education in analytical chemistry, biochemistry and organic chemistry. More than 100 people work at the department. New employees and students are recruited from all over the world and English is the main working language. The department is located at the Biomedical Centre in Uppsala, which facilitates collaborations with research groups in biology, pharmacy, medicine and SciLifeLab and gives access to advanced infrastructure for experimental and theoretical studies. The department seeks a research engineer to join our team. The NMR platform located at the department provides services, advice and training to researchers at Uppsala University, and to external users. The platform is the small molecule node of the national NMR network SwedNMR.

Duties

  • Provide user support in NMR spectroscopic measurements and data processing
  • Daily operation, service and maintenance of two 400 MHz, a 500 MHz and a 600 MHz NMR instrument
  • Assist maintenance, installation and testing of relevant NMR software Manage contact with instrument manufacturers in connection with service issues
  • Coordination of NMR experiments with the national network SwedNMR, including also outreach activities

Requirements

  • Theoretical knowledge and substantial practical experience with small molecular NMR spectroscopy
  • Doctoral degree in organic chemistry or NMR spectroscopy
  • Excellent communication skills in written and oral English

Emphasis will be placed on personal skills. In this case, we place particular weight on the ability to work as a team player with self-m otivating personality, as well as ability to work independently and take responsibility. Experience with service and maintenance of NMR instrumentation and with providing user support in NMR spectroscopy are strong merits for this appointment.

About the employment

The employment is a permanent position (probationary period may be applied). Scope of employment 100 %. Starting date 2025-02-01 or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala
