The Department of History at Princeton University invites applications from scholars who specialize in African American History. Review of files will begin September 15, 2024, and continue until the position is filled. Applicants must be able to offer a broad lecture course as well as more specialized upper-level undergraduate courses and graduate courses. They should provide a cover letter that addresses current research, future research directions, and possible teaching; a curriculum vitae; an abstract of the applicant’s current book-length project; and a related chapter- or article-length writing sample. Three referees should be entered into the online system, which will automatically generate recommendation requests for candidates who advance. For candidates who do not yet have a Ph.D., the recommendation of the principal advisor must include precise information on the present status of the dissertation and the likelihood of completion by summer 2025.
