A full-time postdoctoral position is available in the Kume Laboratory, based in the Feinberg Cardiovascular and Renal Research Institute (FCVRRI) and Department of Medicine at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. The Kume Lab is located in the Simpson Querrey Biomedical Research Center on Northwestern University’s lakefront campus in downtown Chicago. The Kume Lab investigates the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying tumor angiogenesis and progression with an emphasis on endothelial cell gene regulation, tumor vasculature and microenvironment, and cancer combination therapies with angiogenesis and immune checkpoint inhibitors.

The postdoctoral scientist in the lab will conduct cutting-edge research using mouse models, vascular biology techniques, cell-based assays, confocal immunofluorescence imaging, and single-cell RNA-seq/bioinformatics. The Kume Lab also collaborates with colleagues within the FCVRRI and across Northwestern University’s Chicago and Evanston campuses to take full advantage of the rich scientific surroundings.

Qualifications:

Candidates should hold a recent PhD, MD, or equivalent degree with strong research training in cancer biology and immunology, vascular biology, molecular and cell biology, mouse models, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, bioinformatics, or related fields. Critical thinking and effective communication skills are essential qualities. The salary will be based on the National Institutes of Health NRSA scale and commensurate with experience.
