Key Responsibilities

Working with the Education Research and Evaluation/ECQI teams, reporting to the Director of Program Evaluation and Education Continuous Improvement, working with the Director for AI Integration, education research faculty, and collaborating with the UCSF Bridges AI charter faculty leads

  • Develop and implement an ongoing research and scholarly evaluation for AI integration in UCSF medical education curriculum and learning support, learner assessment, and medical school admission.
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators such as student engagement, feedback, academic performance, and operational cost savings using quantitative and/or qualitative methods and utilize AI-driven analytics to assess the impact and effectiveness of AI initiatives.
  • Design a scholarly evaluation plan to ensure AI systems promote inclusivity that addresses diverse student needs and defines guidelines for ethical AI use ensuring transparency, fairness, and data privacy
  • Conduct annual reviews of the AI strategy and publish reports on progress, challenges, and future plans for AI leadership.
  • Develop and teach seminars and workshops on leveraging AI for education research in medical education for, and not limited to, the Teaching Scholars Program, Education Research Certificate, and Doctoral Program
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements and research in AI and its application in medical education, utilizing the information to direct the design of AI integration scholarship.
Job Requirements:

PhD in a relevant field such as Education, Psychology, Public Policy, Public Health, Sociology, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related discipline. Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience with and background in AI and its applications in education or healthcare.
  • Experience with research methodologies, program evaluation, implementation science, data analytics, and reporting in the social and health sciences.
  • Experience with teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to promoting inclusivity and addressing biases in AI systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
