Job Description

Research Senior Techncian to become involved in studies on the neoplastic and developing brain.

The Research Senior Technician:

  • Participates in planning, design, execution of research and the management of budget expenditures and commitments of research projects in a research laboratory focused on brain tumors and the developing brain.
  • Participates in developing and implementing goals and objectives of research studies.
  • Designs and executes planned research activities and collaborative research activities using observation, measurement, and analytical techniques.
  • Performs routine experimental procedures on laboratory animals including surgical procedures and/or administration of drugs; assists with care of laboratory animals.
  • Prepares solutions and aliquots reagents for scientific experiments; performs a variety of assays and experimental tests; collects, sorts and processes brain and other tissues, tumor tissue, and cells.
  • Collects, records, consolidates, analyzes, and interprets research data.
  • Assists with development and implementation of new and/or revised research methodologies and techniques; tests experimental designs, sampling techniques, and analytical methods and makes recommendations for utilization.
  • Assists in establishment of controls, criteria, and research standards; assists with ordering, stocking, and maintenance of research supplies as well as maintaining overall lab organization and infrastructure.
  • Performs critical analysis of literature relevant to research being undertaken; assists in the preparation of research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentation at national and conferences and workshops, and in the writing of project reports, articles, and other documents; presents at lab meetings
  • Coordinates onboarding and assists with instructing research staff, undergraduate and graduate students, and postdocs in laboratory procedures and operation of equipment.
  • Oversees and coordinates routine/compliance testing; calibrates and maintains various laboratory equipment and operates microscopes, centrifuges and other laboratory equipment; performs additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Education Required
Bachelor’s Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with a Major in biological sciences

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a biological/health science or an equivalent combination of education is required. Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required. Experience in a biological/health research capacity is required. Requires successful completion of a background check. Qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen
