Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?
Join the Kragesteen lab at the division of Medical systems bioengineering at the department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics in Biomedicum to illuminate the gene regulation of transcriptional hypoxia cell states and role in oxygen physiology and human health. In our group, we integrate human evolutionary genomic studies with mice, human tissues, and human organoid models and apply genomic editing and single cell/spatial multiomics to decipher regulation of hypoxia cell states, with the aim to better understand present day health disparities and intervention of medical hypoxia related conditions. As a new lab, we are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic research assistant to help build the projects in the lab.
Your mission
The successful candidate(s) will work as a research assistant in projects aiming to decipher gene regulation of hypoxia transcriptional cell states using organotypic culturing of human tissues and mouse models and applying molecular tools including spatial transcriptomics. The research assistant will be an active member of the research group and support ongoing projects in the laboratory.
Your profile
We are recruiting 1-2 research assistants. The ideal candidate should recently have obtained a MSc degree in Molecular Biology or other related fields. We are looking for candidates with hands on experience with molecular biology techniques and experience in handling mice/dissecting tissues, cell culture, and NGS/Genomics work is meriting.
All candidates must be able to fluently communicate in written and spoken English as well as demonstrate good teamwork skills. The applicant must be able to integrate well into the international and multidisciplinary environment. Personal suitability is therefore of great importance.
What do we offer?
A creative and inspiring environment with wide-ranging expertise and interests both within the Medical systems bioengineering unit, MBB, and Biomedicum. Karolinska Institutet is one of the world’s leading medical universities and together with the neighbouring SciLifeLab forms a national hub for molecular biosciences and a one-stop resource of unique technologies and cutting-edge facilities. You get to meet researchers working with a wide range of specialisms and methods, giving you ample opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience with the various scientific fields within medicine and health. A close relationship with the health care providers across the street in Bioclinicum is important for creating ground-breaking top-quality education and research. Karolinska Institutet is also a state university, which entitles you to several benefits through our collective agreement. And you get to practice freely in our modern wellness facilities, where trained staff are on site.
