The University of Washington Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine has three academic anesthesiologist positions available at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor.  These positions are without tenure due to funding and are full-time or part-time, with an anticipated start date of July 2025 or thereafter.  Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30).  Associate Professors and Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30).  Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.  Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank.  The base salary ranges for these positions are:  Assistant Professor $29,532 – $32,126 per month ($354,384 – $385,512 annually) or Associate Professor $33,843 – $35,036 per month ($406,116 – $420,432 annually) or Professor $35,657 – $37,282 per month ($427,884 – $447,384 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.  These ranges are inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University.  Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations.  Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through the UWP practice plan.  Compensation provided by the UWP practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.  For practitioners holding an appointment in the physicians practice plan, see the link for additional benefits that may be available at UWP:  https://faculty.uwmedicine.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/UWP-Benefits-Summary-for-recruitingef-edits-v3.pdf.  Duties of the position include the teaching of residents, fellows and medical students and training of clinical care team.  Successful candidates will provide general anesthesia and cardiothoracic anesthesiology services.  University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

Qualifications

Must have MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent).  At the time of employment, must have a minimum of one-year fellowship training (or foreign equivalent) in cardiothoracic anesthesiology.  Must be Board certified or eligible (or foreign equivalent) in anesthesiology and obtain state of Washington medical licensure by start of appointment.  In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-US) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the US Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.  Visa sponsorship is not available for part-time positions.
