Interreligious Studies (IRS) have been an important part of the Faculty of Theology in Bern since 2005. The degree program focuses on monotheistic religions and focuses on the ability to change interreligious perspectives in history and the present. The degree program was expanded to include a postsecular orientation in 2023. The Faculty of Theology of the University of Bern offers an attractive interdisciplinary teaching and research environment, in teaching for example with the innovative teaching formats Religions in Bern and Postsecular Lab , and in research currently with the international research initiative ” Co-Produced Religions “. The doctoral position with assistance is intended to enable own research in the field of IRS and to support research, teaching, administration and internet presence of the IRS degree program. The assistant is assigned to the spokesperson of the IRS team, currently Prof. Luca Di Blasi.
- A dissertation project in the interreligious and/or post-secular field (75%)
- teaching (max. two courses per year, 17%)
- Contact person for students of the IRS degree program and for international students, e.g. in the Master’s program “Religious Diversity in a Globalized World (ReD Global)”; assistance in organizing IRS academic events as well as maintenance and further development of the Interrelblog and the IRS websites (8%)
- Very good knowledge of German and English, allowing teaching in both languages
- Interest in interreligious and post-secular issues
- High level of independence and initiative
- Ability to work in a team, enjoyment of contact with students
- Experience in dealing with new media (WordPress, Adobe Creative Cloud, podcasting)
