From the Real Estate & Facilities (RE&F) department, we are pursuing a progressive policy in the field of sustainable energy management. The coming years offer many opportunities, as we are working on a professionalization of energy management and efficiency. We are currently looking for an Energy Management Service Manager who wants to shape this transition together with us.
Job description
As Service Manager Energy, you are responsible for the university’s energy management and achieving our energy and sustainability goals. In this role, you ensure that the university’s energy management performs optimally. You will lead the Energy Management Team, which meets monthly and represents all core suppliers to ensure technical control and implement improvements. You will also play a crucial role in solving technical issues and managing complex projects.
You direct the policy on this theme and execute the action plans, using all available systems. Together with specialized colleagues such as our senior technical specialist and senior policy officer sustainability, you work on optimizing our energy management and improving our sustainability performance.
In this versatile role, you are responsible for monitoring and controlling the energy management of deEUR. You also independently develop your knowledge of building management and energy registration systems and keep up to date with the latest developments in the market. In addition to managing contacts and contracts with technical service providers and consultants, you are responsible as an energy management process coordinator for:
- Developing an Energy Management action plan and managing the implementation of this plan;
- Coordinating the Energy Management System (EMS) and the Energy Registration and Monitoring System (ERBIS);
- A proactive contribution to the realisation of the Energy Transition Buildings Portfolio Roadmap and the associated legal obligations such as the EED and List of Recognised Measures;
- Managing suppliers and employees (functionally) in issues regarding energy-related disruptions, monitoring the associated budgets and preparing progress reports for management;
- Monitoring budgets and the quality of services provided within maintenance contracts and service projects.
- Representing your department in energy issues in various projects;
- Participation in European tendering processes and drawing up associated requirements programmes within the Energy theme;
- Providing input for the Balanced Scorecards in the field of energy management in relation to sustainable development.
Job requirements
- Minimum HBO working and thinking level, with a relevant education in Energy Management or technology;
- Experience with heat and cold storage systems;
- Experience in managing (technical, energy and/or facility) agreements;
- Knowledge of the applicable standards (NEN/ISO), of the energy market and legislation and regulations regarding energy and of sustainability certification such as Breeam;
- Excellent oral and written command of Dutch (level C1) and English (level B2).

Working conditions
We offer you an internationally oriented and varied job in an enthusiastic team, with excellent employment conditions in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU).
The starting date of the position is 01-JAN-2025. The salary depends on your knowledge and experience and amounts to between € 3,378 and € 5,331 gross per month for a full-time position (38 hours). Scale 10, in accordance with the CAO-NU. Your location is Campus Woudestein – Rotterdam, at Real Estate & Facilities (RE&F). The position has a size of 0.8 FTE – 1 FTE. The contract is entered into for a period of 1 year and can be converted into a permanent employment contract if suitability is proven and if (financial and/or organizational) circumstances remain the same.
