Purpose
Design, develop, and maintain software and hardware for the collection, processing, and analysis of satellite signals in the Space and Geophysics Laboratory (SGL).
Responsibilities
- Develop hardware and analysis software in Python, C/C++, Verilog, or scripting to support and enhance capabilities for software defined radios and to satisfy project objectives.
- Perform analysis and characterization of GPS/GNSS data using established software tools, repositories and libraries in accordance with established internal practices. Identify improvements and new methods for GPS/GNSS data collection and analysis. Evaluate and develop new metrics, algorithms, processing techniques with modernized GPS/GNSS signals. Contribute to testing and routine assessments of GPS/GNSS receiver performance. Identify future analytical software and hardware resource requirements. Further develop knowledge of GPS/GNSS and related domains.
- Develop hardware simulations and software regression tests to verify correct operation of firmware and software. Support integration, test, verification, and bug resolution for the release of new firmware and software builds. Manage the build, integration, and test of new hardware units. Perform analysis on collected data to ensure correct performance.
- Documentation and communication of work progress, processes, products, and results; including: discussions, written reports, and briefs presented to stake-holders. Provide supporting information for project reviews and technical interface meetings.
- Other related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- Python, C/C++, or Verilog coursework or experience.
- Data analysis coursework or experience.
- Experience using electrical test equipment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including demonstrated ability to communicate technical detail to staff and stakeholders of varying backgrounds and experiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and collaboratively, with a strong commitment to contribution and enabling the entire team.
US Citizen: Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related discipline.
- Immediate eligibility for access to classified information
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency with Python, Verilog, and C/C++.
- GPS/GNSS coursework or relevant work experience.
- Work experience with revision control systems such as Git/Gitlab.
- Experience using standard laboratory test equipment and RF test equipment.
- Demonstrated experience implementing FPGA designs.
- Knowledge of design and development of digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms and techniques.
- Experience in software defined radio design, implementation, and testing.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 with a 3.5 in major coursework.

Salary Range
$88,500-$120,000+/negotiable depending on qualifications
