Job description

Department

University of Essex Campus Services Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Essex, created in 2010 to manage its diverse range of commercial functions.

Accommodation Essex at the University of Essex are committed to delivering great service to our customers. We believe that we can best achieve this through highly valued and motivated staff who share our values.

Soft FM Services are responsible for cleaning and portering services to the university’s academic, administrative, and residential estate.  Soft FM facilitates all university key events, such as graduation and open days and ensures areas are prepared for other events such as receptions and summer conferences.

Duties of the Role

Soft FM Services is looking to recruit an enthusiastic Housekeeper to join our busy team

During term time our Housekeepers provide cleaning services within student accommodation, cleaning kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, and communal areas. We provide a hotel style service for conference guests, during term time and summer months. We have a range of accommodation types, including shared facilities, en-suite and self-contained.

Appointment to this post will be made on a part-time (24 hours per week) permanent basis to be worked as required within the working operational window (05.30am – 8.00pm, 5 days in 7 days). The current working pattern is 09.00am – 2:00pm Monday to Thursday and 09:00am – 1:00pm Fridays. However, in the interests of working efficiency the University may from time-to-time review current working patterns. Changes to working patterns resulting from this will be subject to a minimum of 21 calendar days’ notice.

At the University of Essex, internationalism and diversity is central to who we are and what we do. We are committed to being a cosmopolitan, internationally oriented university that is welcoming to staff and students from all countries, faiths and backgrounds, where you can find the world in one place.

To support this commitment we have our Global Forum, a staff-led network that promotes and celebrates the rich cultural diversity among Essex staff, and our Colchester campus based Faith Centre, which hosts regular services, meetings and events organised by our chaplains and faith representatives.

Please see the attached job pack, which contains a full job description and person specification which outlines the full duties, skills, qualifications and experience needed for this role plus more information relating to the post. We recommend you read this information carefully before making an application.  Applications should be made on-line, but if you would like advice or help in making an application, or need information in a different format, please email resourcing@essex.ac.uk
