The University of Arizona Division of Rheumatology/Arizona Arthritis Center is seeking a Laboratory Coordinator II to join Dr. Farr’s laboratory. The lab primarily utilizes mouse models to study cellular senescence in the contexts of aging, skeletal dysfunction, cancer, and type 2 diabetes (T2D).
The Laboratory Coordinator II will assist the Principal Investigator (and multiple collaborators) with design and conduct of experiments within budgets and according to established scientific standards. This position will require experience and understanding of project management, contracts, grant submissions, manuscript preparation, writing scientific reports, giving oral presentations, and numerous research regulatory compliance requirements. Complete and thorough knowledge of University regulations and protocols are essential.

Principal responsibilities include:
Coordinate all administrative aspects of lab including including ordering/procurement of equipment, inventory and maintenance, and ensuring the lab is meeting compliance requirements.
Support and maintain research experiments/methods under the direction of principal investigators, including following: animal research protocols, processing tissue and specimen collection, performing laboratory assays, and organizing data collection and documentation.
Under direction of the PI, may participate in experimental procedures including blood collections, IP injections, EchoMRI, oral gavage, CT scans, and IHC and tissue embedding.
Under direction of the PI, coordinate animal husbandry including maintaining mouse colonies, setting up breeding pairs, and weaning and genotyping of offspring.
May coordinate training for new laboratory personnel.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
