The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Iowa is searching for multiple postdoctoral research scientists to join the team for the TRACERS Small Explorers mission launching in Q2 2025 (https://tracers.physics.uiowa.edu). The successful candidates will work in collaboration with TRACERS science and engineering team members at the University of Iowa, as well as team members from other institutions.
The postdoctoral research scientists will join a vibrant space physics group at the University of Iowa, with current involvement in TRACERS, MAVEN, THEMIS-ARTEMIS, Parker Solar Probe, Juno, MMS, Voyager, and CASSIOPE e-POP, as well as sounding rockets, CubeSats, and technology development efforts. The University of Iowa is located in Iowa City, an accessible and affordable Midwest college town with diverse cultural opportunities, consistently rated one of the top ten places to live in the country.
Relocation Incentive
The positions are available for a relocation incentive of up to $3,000 if the individual hired is relocating to Iowa City from more than 50 miles away. Incentives may be provided on a first-come basis and are contingent upon funding availability.

Education Requirement:
PhD in physics or related field by position start date, as soon as March 2025. If the candidate can demonstrate that PhD degree requirements have been met, but that the degree will not be officially conferred until a later date (e.g., May 2025), the applicant may be considered to meet this requirement.
Desirable Qualifications:
Strong background in space plasma physics.
Previous experience working with spacecraft data.
Familiarity with IDL, Matlab, Python, or comparable programming and computational tools.
