A fully funded postdoctoral fellowship is available in the Ophthalmic Microsystems Laboratory at Stanford, which is led by Charles DeBoer, MD, PhD in the Department of Ophthalmology, Stanford University School of Medicine. The Ophthalmic Microsystems Laboratory at Stanford is interested in developing new ocular therapeutics using novel micro and nanotechnologies. We integrate multiple modalities (e.g. chemical, mechanical, and electrical) into microdevices, with feature sizes under one millimeter in length.

The integrated full-sized devices are small enough to be implanted into the eye and provide local treatment for disease. The Ophthalmic Microsystems Lab at Stanford seeks an outstanding and highly motivated postdoctoral scholar for a leading role in developing implantable microdevices using polymer microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) technology. The lab is a collaborative and dynamic working environment that leverages the advantages of micro- and nanotechnologies to advance scientific discovery and healthcare. Projects will be in the area of extended drug delivery reservoirs for the eye.

Responsibilities: Learn protocols and standard operating procedures. Conduct experiments. Analyze data. Prepare presentations and reports. Attend laboratory meetings and present research progress.

Required Qualifications:

• PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Bioengineering or Chemical Engineering.
• Prior work experience in hands-on laboratory experimentation. Prior work in microfabrication, engineering design (computer-aided design), and soft lithography.
• Potential experience in regenerative medicine or cell culture. Laboratory experiences from coursework and hands-on experience from work experience, competitions, and student clubs.

Required Application Materials:

• CV
• A one-page statement of research accomplishments and interests
• Contact information for 3 professional references
