The Laboratory of Dr. M.E. Hartnett in the department of Ophthalmology at Stanford University School of Medicine is seeking applicants for a Postdoctoral Research Scholar.
Expectations for outstanding progress in your career are working with animal models that will require some flexibility in schedule, knowledge, and or/willingness to learn to do subretinal and ocular injections, retinal and choroidal flat mount dissections, labeling for immonohistochemistry, oxygen-induced retinopathy, real-time PCR, protein analysis, flow cytometry, and designing and breeding genetic models, transfections and transductions, cell culture, maxi preparations, and cloning.
The position will provide opportunities for and require review of the literature, writing grants and papers, presentations of work at national and international meetings. In addition, as knowledge is gained, continued development of skills is expected.
The postdoc will receive extensive one-on-one training with postdocs and junior faculty to develop the necessary skills to acquire high-quality data. The ideal applicants should have some experience in cellular electrophysiology, PCR, or RNA sequencing. The candidates without these experiences will also be considered if they are willing to commit the efforts to develop these skills.
- PhD or MD
- PhD Fluency in both spoken and written English
- Record required of first author publication published or accepted for publication
- Use and familiarity with CRISPR techniques in primary cells
- Demonstrating relevant skills and experience
- CV with cover letter/letter of interest
