The Department of Pediatrics has an exciting opportunity for a Full-time Post Doctoral Associate to work in Miami. The Post Doctoral Associate performs scientific research and studies under the supervision of managing staff. Moreover, the Post Doctoral Associate promotes institutional recognition through literal contributions to the scientific community.
The Postdoctoral Associate will be working in the Research Lab at the University of Miami- Miller School of Medicine. This candidate will be studying epigenetic mechanisms of adaptation to metabolic stress responses and epigenetic mechanisms of resistance in acute leukemia. The candidate should be a highly motivated individual with solid training in epigenetics, and/or cell biology, and/or molecular biology. The ideal candidate should have exposure in epigenetics.
- Conducts research on specific areas of study as assigned.
- Prepares research reports and technical papers for publishing.
- Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories.
- Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.
- Develops advanced analytical models and systems and provides solutions and analyses to support strategic and tactical decisions.
- Perform a spectrum of epigenetics techniques, including but not limited to chromatin extraction, CHIP-qPCR, CHIP-Seq, RNA-Seq, etc.
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Department Specific Functions
- Plan and conduct assigned and/or original research projects autonomously while working collaboratively with UM faculty, staff, pos-tdocs and students.
- Perform basic molecular biology and cell biology techniques such as nucleic acid extraction and manipulation, PCR, RT-PCR, Western blot analysis, immunostaining, and cell culture.
- Perform a spectrum of epigenetics techniques, including but not limited to chromatin extraction, CHIP-qPCR, CHIP-Seq, RNA-Seq, etc.
- Maintain accurate records of research findings and the analysis of results.
- Assist in the preparation of manuscripts for publications and grant preparations.
- Present research findings at professional meetings.
- Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS:
- MD or Ph.D. in relevant field
- Exposure in epigenetics and/or human genetics, or prior work experience in an epigenetics and/or human genetics laboratory for translational research in the basic molecular biology of acute leukemia.
- Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
- Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
