In the frame of a new project in collaboration with Flanders Make and several manufacturing companies, we are looking for a postdoctoral/senior researcher to work for the next 2-3 years on versioning and access control of LLMs powered by knowledge graphs. The researcher is expected to conduct high quality research and follow up with the project and other activities in collaboration with Flanders Make. The researcher should ideally start in Q2 of 2025, but there might be some flexibility.

The work will be performed within the research groups DTAI and EAVISE, at the Department of Computer Science at KU Leuven and the researcher will also be affiliated with Flanders Make and Leuven.AI.

The Declarative Languages and Artificial Intelligence (DTAI) section within the Computer Science Department conducts research on fundamental and applied research in the fields of Declarative Languages, Machine Learning and Knowledge Representation.

The Embedded and Artificially intelligent VISion Engineering (EAVISE) is a multidisciplinary group focuses on applications of advanced computer vision and artificial intelligence, bridging the valley of death between academics and industry.

Flanders Make is a strategic research center in Flanders focused on supporting and strengthen the long-term competitiveness of the manufacturing industry through technological innovation and pre-competitive, industry-driven, and excellent research.

Responsibilities

We are looking for candidates who work independently while embracing collaboration, and who have experience in the following areas (with the first being the most important):

  • Semantic web technologies and knowledge graphs (RDF, SPARQL, SHACL, etc.)
  • Large language models (LLMs)
  • Programming and Devops with semantic web technologies

Experience in these areas is a plus:

  • access control
  • versioning

Your tasks will include:

  • research in the areas of Knowledge Graphs and LLMs, in particular with respect to access control and versioning of knowledge graphs which power LLMs.
  • follow up of the project and Flanders Make activities
  • dissemination of project results through publications and international conferences
  • work in a multidisciplinary and international team

Profile

  • PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, AI or comparable fields;
  • background in both theoretical and applied aspects of computer science;
  • motivation to conduct research and passionate for discovering new things;
  • capacity to abstract problems and generalize solutions;
  • ability to work in a team but also autonomous and independently;
  • some level of leadership towards managing students and projects;
  • good oral and written communication skills in English.
