Onur Cil, MD, PhD is hiring postdoctoral fellows to join his lab at UCSF. The laboratory’s research focus is disease mechanisms, drug discovery and repurposing. Epithelial diseases is the major focus of the lab including renal, gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, pulmonary and ocular conditions. Some examples of the diseases of interest include kidney stones, edema, polycystic kidney disease, hypertension, diarrhea, constipation, inflammatory bowel disease, cystic fibrosis, asthma and dry eye. In addition to mechanistic studies to elucidate disease mechanisms, we perform high-throughput screening of small molecule libraries using cell-based assays developed in the lab, and compound testing and optimization using cellular assays and rodent models. The identified compounds are used for hypothesis-driven physiological/pharmacological research and as candidates for drug development for human diseases. Applicants for the postdoctoral positions must hold a Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. Background in molecular and cellular biology required, with experience in cell culture and animal models. The candidates with experience in assay development and high throughput screening are encouraged to apply. Ideal candidates should have good written/oral communications skills, ability to work effectively in a team environment, be highly organized, and have a documented record of research accomplishments. The candidates will participate in grant preparation, manuscript writing, and presentation of research at scientific conferences.
