Job Description:
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
This position will entail research and development of a new strategy and procedure aiming to ensure that all international graduate students meet the Graduate College’s English language requirement in a flexible and timely manner through communication programing provided by the Center for Communication Excellence.
It will require designing, piloting, and implementing a process for determining needs-based English language development opportunities for individual students, providing those opportunities on an individual basis, accounting for the outcomes leading to fulfillment of the Graduate College’s English requirement, and communicating with multiple stakeholders. Additionally, it will require determining the best way to integrate ISU institutional language assessments (EPT and OPECT) for graduate students into the new procedure. This position will also be responsible for delivering a MOOC on teaching academic writing.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
PhD from an accredited institution in Applied Linguistics and Technology, or closely related field
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with English language teaching and tutoring of graduate students and postdocs
• Experience with English language assessments (written and/or oral) of graduate students
• Experience developing instructional materials for English language learners
• Experience teaching global or massive open online courses
