Postdoctoral Research Scientist in neuroscience research is available at the Memory and Aging Center, Department of Neurology, University of California San Francisco in the United States.

We are looking for highly self-motivated and productive individuals with experience in in neuroimaging and electrophysiology to join our research team. Our team consists of a multidisciplinary clinician-scientist work group, and we are committed to study the neural circuit dysfunction in neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s disease (AD). We use multimodal neuroimaging approaches including magnetoencephalography, molecular imaging (amyloid-PET, tau-PET), structural MRI and clinical and cognitive evaluations in patients with neurodegenerative diseases and healthy older populations. The focus of the current highlighted project is to study neural circuit hyperexcitability in AD.

Research background in studying systems/cellular neuroscience is required. Applicants with experience in studying neurodegenerative diseases/sleep, time series analysis, skills in Matlab/Python, molecular imaging (PET image analysis), and/or neurobehavioral testing are preferred. Salary is commensurate with qualifications.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Data collection from human participants: schedule and prepare remote and in-person data collection sessions; monitor experimental procedures
  • Data processing and analysis
  • Training and supervision of full-time study coordinators and interns/rotators
  • Assisting with research protocols and compliance
  • Contributing to data dissemination (conference presentations, manuscript submissions)
Job Requirements: 
  • PhD in neuroscience, psychology, biomedical science
  • Expertise in computer programming (Matlab, Python, etc)
  • Expertise in developing and running psychophysiological experiments (e.g., Psychopy, ePrime, Superlab)
  • Expertise in processing physiological data (e.g., EEG, MEG, EDA)
  • Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., R, SAS)
  • A record of peer-reviewed publications
  • Excellent communication skills, keen attention to detail, and strong organizational and problem-solving skills
