The University of Kentucky, College of Health Sciences, Sports Medicine Research Institute (SMRI) is seeking a motivated individual with training in sports-related musculoskeletal injury rehabilitation. The successful candidate will work on research projects to investigate the interplay between musculoskeletal injuries, biomechanics, joint cartilage, and biofeedback and neurocognitive intervention techniques. The primary role of this position will be to oversee all intervention related aspects of funded research projects within the SMRI or at off-site testing locations.
A successful candidate must also posses the ability to pursue independent research projects and apply for extramural funding to support their efforts in a research area parallel to the mission of SMRI. Applicants with experience providing research mentorship to graduate and undergraduate researchers will be given preference. The selected individual will be supported through strong mentorship, grant writing opportunities, and presentation at relevant scientific conferences with networking opportunities. The person in this position must have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a closely related field, with significant laboratory experience, exemplified by publications. Applicants who are ABD with the intention of graduating in the Spring/Summer of 2025 semester will be considered. Applicants must also be a Certified Athletic Trainer or Physical Therapist in good standing with the Board of Certification and be eligible to obtain licensure in the state of Kentucky. Eligible applicants should be highly motivated and able to work in a collaborative environment.
The applicant will be expected to be involved in several research projects and contribute to the writing of grant applications and publications. This position will be a 12-month appointment with option to renew contingent upon review and grant funding. The anticipated effort for this position is 100% Research/Scholarship.
