The advertised position forms, together with other professorships, the Civil Law Department and is part of the Institute for Media and Data Law and Digitalization. The successful applicant will further strengthen the department’s focus on internationally visible research and excellent teaching. 

The post holder represents the subjects of civil law, digitalisation law and intellectual property law in research and teaching. In addition to basic teaching across the entire spectrum of civil law, he/she is actively involved in the English-language courses, exam preparation (Leipzig Exam Offensive – LEO) and the specialisation area studies, particularly within the specialisation area of ​​media and information law. He/she also participates in the First Legal Examination in both the written and oral examinations. Applicants are qualified in the core areas of civil law, private digitalisation law and intellectual property law and are characterized by a clear focus on researching digital transformation through innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence. The research activities also include intellectual property law and its links to general private law. 

Applicants have an excellent research record, which is supported by relevant publications in renowned specialist media. They preferably have a strong research network. Collaboration within the research profile of the faculty as well as in the interdisciplinary research areas of the University of Leipzig, such as the Center for Scalable Data Analysis and Artificial Intelligence SCADS.AI, is highly desired. Experience and success in the acquisition and implementation of third-party funded projects is an advantage.

The rights and obligations of the post holder arise from the Saxon Higher Education Act (SächsHSG) and the Saxon Higher Education Service Ordinance (HSDAVOS). Applicants must meet the appointment requirements in accordance with Section 59 SächsHSG.
