Your Job:

Photovoltaics is a key technology for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Recently, the promising solution-processed organic and perovskite solar cells have been developed, but their efficiency and lifetime still need to be improved. One of the challenges for further optimization is to understand the formation of the complex nanomorphologies and their influence on the solar cell properties. To this end, we are developing and using simulation methods for the most important physical processes that play a role in morphology formation. The aim is to determine physically based process conditions for high-quality solar cells. The scientific focus is on simulations of process-structure-performance relationships for solution-processed photovoltaics, investigations into the deposition and drying of thin liquid films and crystallization and liquid-liquid phase separation in wet, drying and dried films, as well as the development of phase field simulations. Your versatile tasks in detail:

  • Supervise talented PhD and undergraduate students in the fields of physics, materials science and computer science in an interdisciplinary team with the medium-term perspective of project team management
  • Bring in your innovative ideas and contribute to the development of our globally unique theoretical methods
  • Take over the project management for exciting third-party funded projects
  • Successfully acquire third-party funded projects to further advance our research
  • Work with partners inside and outside the HI ERN and represent the Institute at project meetings and international conferences to expand our network

Your Profile:

  • Excellent master`s degree and doctorate in physics, materials science or a related discipline
  • Sound knowledge of theoretical physics, simulation technology and the development of complex scientific simulation codes
  • Experience in the field of theoretical optoelectronics, physics and thermodynamics of complex fluids or high-performance computing is desirable
  • Experience in acquiring third-party funding, publishing peer-reviewed research and presenting at international conferences
  • Motivation, initiative and creativity
  • Excellent cooperation and communication skills as well as outstanding organizational talent
  • Enjoy supervising employees (e.g. students and doctoral candidates)
  • Excellent written and spoken English is mandatory; knowledge of German is desirable

Our Offer:

We work on the very latest issues that impact our society and are offering you the chance to actively help in shaping the change! We support you in your work with:
