Job Description Summary
A project manager is being sought to serve as the Center Administrator for the NIH funded Center for Molecular Studies in Digestive and Liver Diseases (CMSDLD) within the Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. This individual would be a member of the Executive Committee for CMSDLD and would oversee all financial accounting of CMSDLD including its five biomedical research core facilities, the enrichment program, the Pilot and Feasibility Program, and the Administrative Core.
The Center Administrator would also help to plan and execute annual events hosted by CMSDLD including its annual symposium, the meeting of the External Advisory Board, and other initiatives such as the Plan for Enhancing Diverse Perspectives in Digestive Disease Research (a DEI initiative), and a Community Advisory Board. Helping to prepare a quarterly newsletter and maintenance of the CMSDLD website will also be amongst the responsibilities for this position.
Importantly, the Center Administrator will play a critical role as an interface with the NIH in helping to prepare and submit the annual Research Performance Progress Report (RPPR) as well as competing renewal application for CMSDLD. These would include reporting requirements for human subject research.
The candidates for this position should have prior experience in NIH grant management, financial accounting, and operational management experience with a scientific Center or Institute within an academic institution. Strong administrative leadership, writing, and interpersonal skills, as well as meticulous attention to detail are all essential for this position. A scientific background with education beyond a bachelor’s degree such as a masters or Doctorate degree is strongly desired but not essential.
Job Responsibilities
- Financial accounting for CMSDLD

- Maintaining meeting records and including monitoring publications supported by use of CMSDLD biomedical cores, preparing news letters, maintaining website
- Preparing and submitting reports to NIH including annual RPPR and competing renewal
- Help to organize and execute enrichment seminars and pilot & feasibility grant program
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Position is contingent upon continued funding.
