Project Manager for Exhibitions Knowledge Museum in Forum Wissen (f/m/d)
– Salary Group 11 TV-L –

to be filled part-time with 60% of the regular weekly working hours. The position is limited to December 31, 2026.

With the Forum Wissen, which opened in 2022, the University of Göttingen has created a place that will enable encounters and exchange between research and the public. Part of the Forum Wissen is a modern knowledge museum that focuses on the process of creating knowledge. In the large basic exhibition “Spaces of Knowledge”, objects from the university’s around 70 collections are presented with the question of how knowledge is created. Changing special exhibitions as well as event and communication formats present current projects and socially relevant questions that are currently occupying the university and the public alike and stimulate a social dialogue about them. Working with and addressing different target groups as well as exchanging knowledge with a broad and diverse public is one of the central concerns and challenges of the Forum Wissen.
The “Exhibition” department is responsible for the central management, conception and implementation of various exhibition formats in the basic exhibition, the special exhibition rooms and in public spaces in close cooperation with the scientists at the university, the Göttingen campus and the public.

Your tasks:

  • Project planning, cost and budget planning for exhibitions and exhibition formats
  • Project coordination for exhibitions and exhibition formats (timetables, budget planning and controlling) in close cooperation with the head of department and the exhibition curators
  • Communication and coordination of internal and external project participants (appointments, etc.)
  • Preparation and support of tendering and award procedures, design of the contractual and budgetary framework of the exhibition projects, obtaining offers for services and deliveries including market research
  • Auditing, assistance in the preparation of proof of use, support of third-party funding applications
  • Participation and coordination in the assembly and dismantling of exhibitions including support of external service providers
  • Management of the exhibition inventory (storage, inventory lists)
  • Evaluation and documentary follow-up of the exhibition projects
  • Establishment and coordination of a professional project structure including project management tools for all exhibition activities in the Forum Wissen

Your profile:

  • Completed university degree (BA) in cultural/museum management/museology/business administration or a comparable field
  • Professional experience in management/administration
  • very good knowledge and experience in modern project management including appropriate project management software
  • structured work as well as a high degree of organizational skills and personal responsibility
  • sound experience in the independent coordination of (cultural) projects in cooperation with external trades and cooperation partners
  • knowledge of procurement law
  • very good oral and written expression skills (German and English) as well as communication skills
  • Enjoy working in a team
  • Proficient use of MS Office

Desirable :

  • institutional experience in the museum sector/in a cultural institution with exhibition focus
