Essential Functions
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Participate in field sampling; conduct lab analyses (i.e., molecular analyses (qPCR), analytical chemistry (GC-MS), algal pigments (chlorophyll), nutrients); ensure proper maintenance of laboratory equipment; maintain inventory and order supplies; and perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
Level I: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Ecology, Limnology, or closely related at the time employment begins; no experience required.
Level II: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Ecology, Limnology, or closely related discipline plus 2 years of experience relevant to the position.
Level III: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Ecology, Limnology, or closely related discipline plus 4 years of experience relevant to the position.
Substitutions Allowed for Experience:
When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications
Minimum Skills and Abilities
Knowledge/experience with lab water quality analyses, such as analytical chemistry tools like GC-MS, and molecular analyses, such as qPCR.
Minimum Technology Skills
Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite.
Minimum License and Certifications
Desired Qualifications
Prior coursework in limnology and statistics desired.
