Hermanson lab at the Department of Neuroscience, Karolinska Institutet, offers a position for a highly motivated researcher as research assistant in molecular neuro-oncology. Hermanson lab is combining molecular biology, epigenetics, and biomedical engineering with direct clinical applications to improve treatment of neural tumors and complications thereof. The lab is situated at Biomedicum, a world-leading research environment, and offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience of cutting-edge research.

Your mission

You will be part of a team characterizing a new tool for detection of stem and progenitor-like cells and potential therapy of various solid tumors, with special focus on neural tumors including glioblastoma. You will be a critical link between the basic science laboratory and clinically active neurosurgeons, and have responsibility for analysis of human samples. A variety of molecular technologies will be applied, e.g., single cell and bulk RNA analysis, small molecule treatment, various imaging techniques etc.

Your profile

You should have previous experience of neural tumor research and basic technologies such as RT-qPCR, cell culture, and fluorescence microscopy. Enthusiasm and engagement regarding innovation and entrepreneurial spirit is an advantage.
