The Department of Earth Sciences at Uppsala University is Sweden´s largest and most versatile department of its kind with approximately 280 employees. Our activities are interdisciplinary and combine natural science and technology with social science. We have research programs in air, water and landscape science; geophysics; natural resources and sustainable development; petrology, mineralogy and tectonics; paleobiology, and wind energy. The research assistant position is located in Uppsala within the research program Natural Resources and Sustainable Development NRHU. The research of NRHU focuses on the different dimensions of sustainable development. We consider the environment and its natural resources and ecosystem services as an overarching foundation for society and economy and aim at providing knowledge on how to utilize natural resources in a sustainable way. Our work involves considerations of both natural and social systems and their interactions, often adopting transdisciplinary approaches.

The research assistant will support work within the newly established Uppsala University Conflicting Objectives Research Nexus, UUniCORN, and the research project NEXOGENESIS funded by the European Commission.

Duties

Within NEXOGENESIS, the assistant will focus on searching and synthesising relevant literature and policy work, to support writing of a scientific article. The work within UUniCORN will involve support of ongoing research projects, help with organisation of project meetings and workshops, practical help in organisational and administrative tasks, and communication activities. The assistant will also support the researchers in the other upcoming tasks.

Requirements

Master degree and research interests relevant to the work of UUniCORN and NEXOGENESIS. Good skills in oral and written English are important prerequisites.

Additional qualifications

Experience in project management and administrative tasks, as well as general knowledge about sustainability science are an advantage. Knowledge of Swedish is advantageous.

About the employment

The employment is a temporary position, 12 months. Scope of employment 100 %. Starting date 1 February 2025 or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala
