Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?
Join us in developing education of the highest quality
The research will be conducted in the group of Professor Volker Lauschke under the supervision of Ass. Prof. Shane Wright. In the group, we use 3D cell culture systems of primary human cells, microfluidics and integrative bioinformatics approaches to develop better model systems for prediction of drug toxicity and to identify novel therapeutic strategies for complex metabolic diseases, such as type 2 diabetes. In addition, we are interested in understanding the molecular basis of hepatic plasticity in liver injury and regeneration. Furthermore, we study the genetic basis of drug response and adverse drug reactions on a population-scale.
Your mission
The successful applicant will conduct screening of different pharmacological agents in 3D spheroid cultures of primary human liver cells of patients with fatty liver disease or healthy controls. Compound effects will be evaluated using a panel of biochemical and optical readouts.
Your profile
We are looking for a driven candidate who is excited about translational pharmacology and the identification of new therapeutic targets in metabolic diseases. Experience in 3D human tissue culture, biochemistry and pharmacology are strong merits. The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject.
