About the role
Applications are invited for a research post to work with Dr Wenjia Bai on a project funded by the NIHR Imperial Biomedical Research Centre (BRC). The aim of the project is to develop machine learning and foundation model techniques that can be used for clinical brain image analysis. Machine learning and foundation models have received substantial research attention recently in the computer vision and natural language processing communities. Nevertheless, the generalisability and robustness of these models in medical imaging are relatively less investigated, possibly due to the lack of common benchmark datasets and also the lack of clear definition of clinically relevant downstream tasks.
The appointed Research Associate will undertake research in the area of foundation models and brain image analysis to address the aforementioned challenges. The research outcomes will be expected to be published in high-quality refereed international conferences and/or journals. The successful candidate will be expected to have an outstanding background in medical image analysis, computer vision, machine learning and programming. The researcher will be a member of the Data Science Institute (DSI) and the Biomedical Image Analysis Group (BioMedIA) based at the South Kensington Campus, Imperial College London, and will be supervised by Dr Wenjia Bai.
