The Center for LGBT Health Research in The School of Public Health at The University of Pittsburgh is hiring a Research Data Associate. We are looking for someone who has experience and a high level of proficiency with collecting, managing, and analyzing qualitative research data and is capable of leading data collection and analysis efforts with oversight from project leadership and senior staff. This includes experience with and a working knowledge of qualitative analysis software (e.g., Nvivo, Dedoose).

In addition, this position will support community engagement aspects of two studies which will include co-design sessions (including human centered design and liberating structures methods), and the Research Data Associate will also support survey design, development, and management, grant writing, and dissemination of qualitative findings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in sociology, anthropology, psychology, public health, health education, community health, education, educational psychology or related field.
  • Experience with sexual and gender minority health research, mental health research, and/or early life adversity research.
  • Experience conducting research in primary care or family medicine settings or experience with community-based research in general.
  • Experience with REDCap or other survey software.
  • Publications focused on sexual and gender minority health.

Job Summary
Oversees day-to-day management and execution of multiple complex research projects and ensures compliance with all funding agencies and sponsors. Constructs data collection instruments and crafts promotional materials. Troubleshoots data and manages database. Assists with screening, recruitment, and enrollment of study participants. Performs budgetary and purchasing functions.
Essential Functions 

  • Support recruitment of sexual & gender minority adults for an interview study.
  • Independently conduct qualitative data collection.
  • Lead analysis of qualitative data and support quantitative data analysis.
  • Support development of data collection instruments.
  • Support dissemination and communication about the study and study findings.
  • Support community engagement activities.
  • Support grant writing.
Physical Effort
Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to ambulate between buildings on campus. Able to lift/move items weighing 20lbs.
